For some time now, I have watched all the Comedy Circus shows online via YouTube. Initially it was from other sources on YouTube but later I stayed with the Sony Entertainment YouTube brand channel for the sheer quality and full listing of episodes. Although I have enjoyed thoroughly, there was always a problem in locating them. I guess YouTube has felt my problem and has launched Shows page, which is a category-wise listing of all daily soaps and serials from Indian television. The Shows Page is an addition to the amazing enhancements YouTube has brought in over the last few months. With more than 19,000 full episodes of 300 programs in six different languages being hosted on YouTube by its partners is a much-needed feature.
Accessing YouTube Shows Page :
When you log into the YouTube page, TV Shows is the new category for you to be clicked. The page has a similar look of the Movies section. The Shows page on first look gives a snapshot of what is the latest on the page and along with that it also features videos from few categories.
Apart from this, the Show page also has several categories for you to select your preference from Action & Adventure to Comedy to Drama, everything has been listed for you. The category also has TV Channels from which you can select your favorite channel. Presently the page has Colors and SET TV channels. The page also provides with few sorting options from which you can browse the most popular or latest or featured videos within a certain category.
So from now on, if you have missed your favorite soap such as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah or Bade Acche Lagte Hai then you know where you should look for or if you are a person like me who breathes Internet then you know it too.
Shows Page is a much needed add on and apart from Hindi there are other local languages that YouTube has listed. Simply click on the ‘More languages’ in the Languages option and you can find local as well as international languages.
YouTube has done some exciting changes in the recent few months from starting the Movies section to adding up Live shows and now creating an entire Shows Page for soaps and serials is really marching the experience ahead. One should also note that it has been during the times when there has been a debate on how credible is free content and if premium content is the way forward. However rental movies or releasing latest movies on YouTube shouldn’t be far behind.
In a country where 7 of 10 web users watch online videos in a month, these moves strengthen the growth even with lack of infrastructure. So how much time do you spend on YouTube and do you think changes like this will improve user experience?
