5th June, the world over is celebrated as World Environment Day. Occasions like this are always fruitful for marketers to engage innovatively with customers. Starting from today, Woodland in collaboration with LinkedIn is doing the same with “Step Out for a Greener Economy”. This is the message that Woodland is trying to spread amongst working Indian professionals and for that it has tied up with LinkedIn, the worlds biggest professional network and a popular one in India too. The contest that has been planned to run till 18th August 2012 has already garnered more than 10,000 visits.
How does the contest work?
If you are a prolific LinkedIn user like I am then you would see the contest ad by Woodland or you can click on the website stepout2goproplanet.com. You are asked to log in via your LinkedIn account to participate in the contest. After the authentication process, you can see a list of Pro Planet Ambassadors and a couple of incentives to participate in the contest. Every day Woodland is offering an e-voucher for best green cause of the day and along with this LinkedIn is offering premium accounts every week to participants. For more details, check out the Terms & Conditions.
So if you are excited to share the green ideas that you always wanted to then click on the “Start Here” button and you can share your green cause under a particular category. For example if you would like to share your green cause that is related to water then click on the drop down option and you would get a list of various categories. Select one of them, enter your email id and share your idea. Along with your idea you can see ideas that are being submitted by other LinkedIn users and the number of visits their idea is getting. More the number of visits your cause gets, greater the chances of winning.
How cool is the contest?
Talking about saving the planet on World Environment Day is not an unique thing but the way the Woodland India contest has been planned is quite unique. The idea to target the professionals and then collaborating with LinkedIn really makes sense and one can see the number of responses it has got on the first day of it’s launch.
Besides this the idea of connecting with LinkedIn is really exciting considering it as one of the biggest and active professional networks in the world as well as India. Not only is it attracting 15M users present in India but also sharing your green ideas will get a lot of eyeballs for the contest.
Finally I like the incentives too. The vouchers are good but gifting premium accounts on a weekly basis by LinkedIn is a great incentive for professionals who value LinkedIn. Not only does Woodland gets people talking about it but even LinkedIn draws a greater level of engagement.
I am impressed by the initiative that Woodland India has taken along with LinkedIn and I have already shared some of my green ideas of the day.
Have you shared your green idea?
