About the #DigitalTrends2013 and the Twitter contest started by Afaqs Campus

A New Year brings new beginnings and predictions from industry pundits. The trend is old but this time Afaqs Campus has given it a social tweak. Afaqs Campus, the digital marketing education arm of the digital news site has been in the business of educating the digital and social nuances to the industry across India for a year now. The site has recently released a mammoth list of digital predictions from 35 experts for the year 2013.

These predictions are all shared at one place in a microsite. The experts include the likes of Alok Kejriwal, RP Singh, Nimesh Shah and more. So if you log into the site and click on the names of the listed experts then the site would provide you with details of the expert along with their prediction. For instance,  since I consider Sanjay Mehta as an evangelizer in the Indian digital space, I clicked on his name to find out his prediction, as shown in the below screen grab:

Well the fun part starts from here. To engage with fans, the site is running a small contest associated to the #DigitalTrends2013. The contest ‘tweet to win’ asks you to tweet that one big Digital Marketing Trend which you think will dominate the digital domain in India in 2013. When you tweet, make sure you use the hashtag #DigitalTrends2013 in the tweet. If you are lucky enough then you stand a chance to win Afaqs merchandise and a free entry to one of its upcoming social media marketing workshops!

The contest that closes on January 14, 2013, is a smart way of engaging with fans and creating buzz on Twitter with the hashtag #DigitalTrends2013. However, the three winners would be decided on the basis of total number of tweets using the hashtag, number of followers and the total number of impressions.

Hopefully, the parameters of deciding the winner don’t kill the objective of this initiative, which is about involvement of digital enthusiasts. So what is the trend that you are betting on 2013?
