Zomato launches a cool Instagram contest, which is obviously about food. The contest is known as #Zomato.

Zomato, that helps you discover food now wants you to discover food by clicks. If you are a food lover and self-proclaimed expert for sharing Instagram pictures on Facebook then this could be the contest made for you.

How does #Zomato Instagram contest work?

The contest is really simple and has two steps to follow:

1. Take a cool picture of food with or without the foodie in it.

2. Share it on the lovely photo app Instagram and make sure that you mention the hashtag #Zomato in the caption.  For example if you take a picture of the lovely biryani dish at Goodluck Café then it should be like this “Biryani at Goodluck Café #Zomato”.  Don’t forget to do this since entries without the tag wouldn’t be considered for the contest.

The contest ends on 30th July 2012 by 10:00 A.M. so make sure that you rush your entries. Zomato has no limit on the number of entries by a participant so keeping them coming.  The winner would be chosen by the Zomato team and would win a digital camera. So recharge your creative juices and hunt for amazing food snaps to make the Zomato team drool. The company has hinted that there are some more rewards for the images that make them drool.

How cool is the #Zomato contest?

Zomato as a company has always favored technology to keep them on the edge and Saurabh Sengupta had shared this in a conversation with me. The love for technology was reflected sometime back when it had launched a crowd-sourced contest for it’s new TVC.

Recently it also did a makeover and from a food finding place it turned into a foodie network. Carrying that forward it has now launched the #Zomato Instagram contest. The contest is definitely a cool one and probably the first campaign by any brand on an Instagram platform in India. However, we have seen that international brands such as Starbucks, Ford Fiesta, etc. have used Instagram effectively.

In addition to this, the website of Zomato is displaying all the entries sorted by ‘Most Recent ’ and ‘Votes’. It goes without saying that if you see the collection you are bound to get hungry and the images have a voting counter too. I am guessing that Zomato would give some goodies to the images that have maximum votes. However it would have been great if the contest was also integrated on their Facebook page. Nevertheless, this shouldn’t take the credit from Zomato for the contest.

I wished if I had the Instagram app but if you have then start clicking and keep sharing. You never know what can make Zomato team drool over.
