Music label companies are onto big deals by signing up independent YouTube artists. The latest deal to make news is the T-Series deal with UK-based Indian singer & songwriter, Arjun. As per Medianama, the deal will see T-Series bring out two albums of Arjun – a Hindi remix album and an R&B/pop album. This deal, in addition to giving a push to his YouTube subscribers, will also be accompanied by massive online promotions. However, more details on the deal have not been revealed.

The London-based singer, songwriter and composer can give credit to popular Bollywood tracks as he remixes them for the Asian and UK listeners. Almost 9 of his YouTube videos have crossed the magical million views mark. Arjun’s biography on his official site lists him as the most viewed independent UK Asian artist on YouTube, with over 28 million views on his YouTube channel alone. At present, he has more than 90K subscribers.

An English R&B remix video of the very popular ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’ uploaded 2 years ago has fetched more than 8.9 million views, while a remix from the T-Series owned biggest chartbuster of the year ‘Aashiqui 2’ for the song ‘Tum hi ho’, has crossed over 2 million views in the last 7 months.

Arjun has an active social media presence. In addition to a personal blog on his official website, he has a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Soundcloud as well. His Facebook posts receive around 2K likes on an average with a fan base of more than 241K fans. The singer seems to be quite active in sharing about his new releases on Facebook and chatting up his followers on Twitter.

The deal comes across as a win-win one. While Arjun gets backing from one of India’s leading music labels and increased exposure to Indian audiences, T-Series gets to woo a new target audience. A few months back, Universal Music signed on Shraddha Sharma,  the 18-year old YouTube singer, for producing her first album. Pakistani trader, Muhammad Shahid Nazir, better known as the ‘One pound fish man’, signed a record deal with Warner Music soon after his ‘One pound fish’ song got viral.
