Star India’s Hindi entertainment channel Star Plus is on its 5th season of Nach Baliye – a dance reality show with real life celebrity couples competing with each other. This season is scheduled to go on air beginning this Saturday on the 29th at the 9 pm prime time slot, with plans to ring in the new year with dancing celebrity couples every weekend. And this season also has Tennis sensation, Sania Mirza along with her cricketer husband from Pakistan, Shoaib Malik ready to shake a leg.
The channel that had revamped two years ago with the tagline ‘Rishta wahi, soch nayi‘, hasn’t been quiet about it. Along with on-ground promotional campaigns, Star Plus has leveraged its digital presence to spread the message. The Facebook community with more than 1.7 million fans is being catered with pictures, videos and information about the show, the contestant couples and the judges.
The page has been promoting the show beginning December with trailer videos for each of the contestant couples, followed by sharing pictures, on-ground activities and the press conference. The update above seeks to gain popularity vote from fans between the two featured couples. In addition, the page sees a few dedicated updates for the sports couple Sania-Shoaib.
The Star Plus Twitter page has also been creating buzz for Nach Baliye 5, by tagging the handles of contestants and sharing updates of the upcoming show. Interestingly, each of the couples have created a hashtag in the style inspired by American actors, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie being referred to as Branjelina. Television actor, Smita Bansal and her Director husband, Ankush Mohla are #Smankush, while politician kin, Rahul Mahajan and Dimpy – who married him through a wedding reality show, are #Rimpy!
