Star Plus, the very social savvy Hindi entertainment channel from Star India has been leveraging Twitter for many of its shows, ever since the success of Nach Baliye Twitter integration. The channel has been sporting a hashtag #AllForUttarakhand along with other Star bouquet of channels, to spread the word for ‘Saath Hain Hum Uttarakhand’, the channel’s CSR initiative to collect funds for the Uttarakhand rehabilitation.
To be telecast tomorrow 12 noon onwards on India’s Independence Day, Saath Hain Hum Uttarakhand’ will have the biggest names performing on stage that include the likes of Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, among others. The show’s proceeds like ad revenues and sponsorship will be donated to NGOs working in Uttarakhand.
The social media buzz is already in motion thanks to #AllForUttarakhand doing the rounds on Twitter. The hashtag is being promoted on all Star Twitter pages in addition to being displayed on television screens.
In addition, the celebrities performing on the show including Big B are also talking about the show with their millions of followers. And now that Facebook has enabled the use of hashtags, the Star Plus Facebook page is also featuring the hashtag in its updates, along with other Facebook pages of Star India. Star Plus page also has an app ‘AllForUttarakhand’ which features the promo videos by the celebrity performers and live tweets having the hashtag.
Television and Twitter go hand in hand. While one dishes out news and information, including all kinds of entertainment, the other empowers the audience to express themselves – sometimes in real time. Thus Twitter serves for a good second screen experience as well as social media amplifier for television shows.
Hoping the Twitter integration for the ‘Saath Hain Hum Uttarakhand‘ brings in maximum visibility and funds.
