Sony Brings Indian Idol Junior. Focuses on Social and Mobile To Engage With Fans

Sony launches reality show Indian Idol Junior which will hunt for the sensation voice in the age group of 5-15 years. Focuses on social media and mobile to engage with fans.

Reality shows, though very common are still preferred by most Indian entertainment channels. After hosting ‘My Indian Idol’ year after year, Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is all set to launch a new singing reality show “Indian Idol Junior”. The reality show that conducted online auditions since March in the age group of 5-15 years, is all set to start from June 1, 2013. The show will be telecasted on Saturdays and Sundays at 8.30 PM (News Source: Best Media Info).

Sony, with this reality show, is trying to keep its theme alive – ‘Gaano ka wohi jadoo, ab bachchon ki aawaaz mein” and would be recreating the aura of music with the junior idols in their own distinct style. The reality show will see the music director duo Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani teaming up with bollywood singer Shreya Goshal to judge and mentor the junior idols.

After tasting success with the original reality show My Indian Idol, the television channel is investing on social and mobile to reach out and engage with fans. In addition to this, a dedicated website has been created for the reality show. The site is showcasing social conversations on the site along with displaying information about judges and auditions (the auditions have been closed now).

The reality show has created a presence on Facebook and Twitter too. The Facebook page that has more than 90K fans has been aggressively sharing content related to the show, content related to music, etc. From sharing back screen sneak peeks the Facebook page is trying its best to keep the fans engaged. However, there seems to be no content or app related to the selected idols which can bring more excitement on the page. I am hoping the page admins might introduce it with the show’s progress.

The Twitter page has been quite active too and is sharing some interesting content for its more than 2K followers. #IndianIdolJunior has been the hashtag making the tweeps talk about the show. The content is a little similar to Facebook, but it has been actively talking to its community. The other reason I see discussions happening more on Twitter since all the three judges are on Twitter and they are also actively talking about the show with their followers. Makes a big difference!
