When it comes to cricket, live ball by ball updates of a particular match are the next best thing to watching the game live. If you are an avid cricket fan, it is possible that you will normally not be able to follow all the games that say, IPL has to offer. So when you are sitting late in office and trying to finish some work or traveling, you don’t really have many options when it comes to following the game.
There are many mobile apps out there which aim to give you live updates of an ongoing cricket match, but they are not really as fast as you would want. It seems there is a delay of about 15 mins from the live action, which is fine in case you don’t really have an option. CricLive, a mobile app developed by AKI Technologies for Android, aims to shorten this delay and give you the latest ball by ball updates within 3 seconds of the action.
The app does this by using Litzscore’s API and channeling this feed of information into their app. Litzscore is a Bangalore based live cricket information website. Criclive can be seen as a wrapper around this API which happens to be the primary information hose.
The app is pretty simple and you can get started with it in seconds. There are three options for you to check out – Live Matches, Recent Matches and Schedule.
While testing the app there were no live matches being played but the app states that it pulls out the required details of the match being played. Details like the target score, batsman at crease and the bowling stats are some of the important data that the app pulls out. Schedule helps you see upcoming matches and Recent Matches give you results for the matches that have ended. On further taping of the details the app takes you to the Litzscore website.
As far as cricket updates are concerned, the app does its job well. However, it is designed in a pretty primitive way. Litzscore is miles ahead with their design. That being the case, the app does what it sets out to do.
The Big Toss mobile app reviewed recently is in the same league. Even though the app is not providing live updates from cricket matches, the app is trying to be a one stop hub for all things cricket. The Big Toss is an amalgamation of cricket news and social media engagement. Cricket fans can use this app to be informed, engage in fun activities and discuss matches with fellow fans.
Criclive – Android app will soon be followed by the iOS app. CricLive is filling an important gap in a cricket fan’s life as it shows updates about all cricket matches that take place and is not just limited to IPL matches. They plan to support other sports like tennis and football in the days to come. It would be great if AKI Technologies could polish up the app and add more features such as match reminders, home screen widget, fan predictions, leaderboard, etc.
