6-10-2021 is a lucky day for Flipkart co-founders - Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal. Explaining in an email to their customers, the co-founders shared, “To celebrate Flipkart’s journey, we are going to have a sale to end all sales. The Big Billion Day Sale is on the 6-10-2014…and the date is no coincidence. The day 6-10 marks the number of the flat we started out from.”

According to the company, the Big Billion Day sale that started at 8 A.M. today is one of the biggest sale that the country has ever witnessed. However, the day hasn’t seen smooth operations for the company - from server crashes to shopping cart glitches the company has been blamed to be cheating customers in the name of heavy discounts.

Flipkart may state these to be normal glitches, Twitter trends have clearly given the verdict in favour of Snapdeal which is dominating the trends with #CheckSnapdealToday followed by #AsliDealsONeBay. #BigBillionDay was trending in the morning but is nowhere to be found now. Besides Amazon has hijacked the hashtag to create a website called ‘BigBillionDay.com‘; no points for answering that it leads to the Amazon website!

The damage is already done for Flipkart. Listed below are some of the tweets on why the lucky day has turned into a PR disaster for the eCommerce giant.

It is said that Flipkart has been spending tens of crores on advertising during this festive season. Only if the eCommerce giant had spent some more money in providing a better shopping experience to its customers and not fooled people in the name of heavy discounts, this online mockery could have been avoided.
