Myntra Brings #bachpanstyle For Children’s Day!

About Myntra's Twitter contest #bachpanstyle for Children's Day, where fans had to share their stylish childhood pictures and win gift vouchers from the brand


On the occasion of Children’s Day yesterday, stylish and social savvy online retail brand, ran a fun contest titled ‘Bachpan Style’ on Twitter. The objective of the contest was to engage with it’s audience while bringing in the ‘fashion’ element. Bachpan style invited fans to celebrate Children’s Day by sharing their childhood pictures on Twitter under #bachpanstyle. If your pictures had the style quotient, you could stand to impress the style gurus at Myntra and walk away with a gift voucher worth Rs. 1000.

Myntra_bachpan_styleWhile Facebook was used as a medium to publicize ‘Bachpan style’, Twitter was the platform for the contest and Pinterest served as place for post contest aggregation of all the pictures.

The contest was launched with a teaser tweet a couple of hours before the contest asking people to keep their childhood photos ready. The contestants had to send a picture that described their childhood style with one line. Their tweet had to contain the brand’s Twitter handle @myntra along with the hashtag #bachpanstyle.

After the contest ended, all the pictures were pinned to Myntra’s new Pinterest board ‘bachpan style contest photos‘ made especially for this contest. The board also has a special photo of the winner at the top.

I think it was quite a simple and relatable contest for fans and impressively executed by Myntra. As per the hashtracking report, a total of 81 entries were received in 6 hours, 114 tweets generated 101,815 impressions, reaching an audience of 22,793 followers. 

Adding all the pictures onto a Pinterest board is a great idea which the brand can leverage on for future use. Come December, Myntra could run Pinterest contests where fans can pin their Santa style pictures! Bachpan style maybe a small campaign but sure adds to the overall aura on social media as Myntra  has been in the news for quite some time now, especially with the recent acquisition of Shersingh and the interactive ads on YouTube.
