Most job vacancy announcements desire personality traits like ‘leadership skills’, ‘goal-oriented approach’, ‘problem solving ability’, etc. but what if the desired traits mentioned are ‘wackiest, funniest and wittiest’. Then the correct guess would be that the employer is one of the coolest channels in the country – MTV India. MTV India has launched a digital hunt for India’s first MTV Tickr Jockeys on Twitter!
Tickr is a highly popular small strip crawling at the bottom of the TV screens. It flashes pun intended one liners about the latest in Bollywood, Politics, Social happenings & more. It is also available on digital platforms like Twitter & Facebook. It promotes user generated content through SMSes.
The following are the baby steps before one achieves the glory to take over the Legendary Tickr:
- Register at MTVIndia.com/TickrJockey & fill in the details. Note that it is mandatory you possess a valid Twitter id.
- Once registered you will be directed to the task page. The task page contains information regarding the available categories about which the participants need to tweet for. For example, the current categories include – #bollywood, #BetterThanSex, #SalmanforPresident, #tech. These categories keep changing each day, providing enough simulation for participants & Twitter audience alike.
- Participants can tweet in multiple categories & are recommended to spread the word amongst their followers to fetch as many retweets as possible.
- 10 contestants will be shortlisted based on the number of retweets they receive for their tweets as well as the humour quotient. They will be judged by VJ Nikhil Chinapa as well as the hilarious VJ José.
The top 10 will then proceed for the second phase where they will be split into two teams with VJ José and VJ Nikhil as the helm of the two teams. They will be given daily Twitter tasks and depending on their wackiness quotient, eliminations will be held every 2 days, till only the final three jockeys remain.
As mentioned on MTV India website, the awesome threesome will receive a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 each. The Tickr Jockeys will also receive a paid position (Rs. 15,000 per month) at MTV India!
MTV’s initiatives have often been synonyms to some cool & funky innovations which create buzz & audience engagement. The Tickr Jockeys digital talent hunt is certainly an example of the same. It is a novel way to create buzz among the Twitter audience about MTV Tickr. And to create this buzz, MTV will leverage upon the user generated content (a.k.a tweets by participants).
It would be interesting to see if some of the action would be televised by MTV, but for now the Tickr team seems very excited about this new initiative.
