LinkedIn has further expanded its footprint in India with the inauguration of a brand new office in Gurgaon. Spread over an area of almost 35,000 square feet, the new office is located at DLF Cyber City in Gurgaon and is geared towards scale, supporting hundreds of employees in Delhi. LinkedIn’s sales team and engineers from Slideshare will operate out of this office.
Also, Nishant Rao, Country Manager, LinkedIn India will be based out of this office. The new office facility boasts of a recreation room, a video wall, an innovation room and over 18 meeting rooms.
Having entered India in late 2009 with a small office in Mumbai, the professional network focused keenly on expanding its operations in India. LinkedIn has full-fledged offices in New Delhi, Mumbai and a technology centre in Bengaluru. With a member base of over 27 million, India is currently the second largest market for LinkedIn after the US. This February, the world’s largest professional network had stated that it had crossed the 50 million users milestone in the Asia Pacific region, of which 24 million users were from India.
In India, the technology industry is one of the primary growth engines of the economy. According to LinkedIn’s recent analysis of its 300 million members, five Indian cities including Gurgaon, feature in the global list of top 10 cities experiencing a tech boom.
Speaking on the inauguration, Nishant Rao said, “We’ve scaled-up our operations in India and continue to experience sustained growth here, both in terms of our member base as well as our business. The addition of one more full-fledged office in India is a reaffirmation of our long-term commitment and belief in this country. On the flip side, we expect that the innovation from our cross-functional teams here, will provide global leverage to LinkedIn in all our markets”.
LinkedIn’s expansion in India is testimony to the fact that the company sees immense potential in the talent here and it plans to continue strengthening operations in India.
