“In 2000 people used to say new media, they still say the same. While that has not changed, the good thing is that clients are very interested in understanding digital and think digital. The buzz word today is to think creatively for brands and to do native advertising,” informs Kushal Sanghvi in a conversation with Lighthouse Insights.
Kushal, who is the Business Head at Reliance Entertainment and Digital, has seen the medium evolving in the country. Starting up with Indian Express, Kushal spent a good amount of time working with the talented folks at Rediff back in 1999. While Kushal dabbled in many business development roles, twice he turned into an entrepreneur during his professional experience of 18 years.
In 2011 he founded Spider Digital Hub and the idea was to offer digital services to the Concept Group. “Concept is a very strong public relations company. The idea then was to provide digital services to most of its clients as well as to embark upon new creativity in itself.”
Later in August 2012, Kushal started up his next venture, Span Digital with a very different objective. “I moved on from serving digital for established brands to public sector organizations in the country. We did a good job working along with State Bank of India and we almost got them to taste digital in a span of two years. We also helped the state of Kerala to put a large amount of money on digital.”
In this first part of the video conversation, Kushal talks about his professional journey so far, the idea that led to the formation of Spider Digital Hub and Span Digital and how digital as a medium has evolved in the country.
