Pune’s tech community is well aware of GS Lab. The company founded in August 2003 has been known for its quest towards building products while keeping its focus on communication and networking space. In recent times the company has been known for its enterprise product kPoint which allows video discovery along with making it interactive and measurable at the same time.

Recently kPoint secured its place in the jury round of prestigious NASSCOM Emerge 50 2014 Awards. kPoint showcased its product at NASSCOM Product Conclave in Pune and thereafter it was selected from a pool of 50 applications after the initial screening and jury round.

It was the perfect occasion for me to meet one of the forces behind GS Lab and kPoint – Shridhar Shukla. The IIT Bombay electrical engineering graduate who carried his passion for technology by doing a PhD in Computer Engineering, was kind enough to meet and share his journey and experiences so far.

The first part of the video interview, which was shot at GS Lab, talks more than just about the product. The interview starts with Shukla talking about his early schooling days, where he grew up and his good old engineering days in IIT Bombay. Moving ahead the conversation steers upon how Shukla landed up doing a PhD and why he joined the US Naval Postgraduate School as an Assistant Professor for more than five years.

Further he shares his amazing learning stint of 9 years in Persistent as a Director and COO, and how as young fearless souls the team with him at Persistent continued to achieve some remarkable milestones.
