5. Google acquires visual effects rendering service Zync Render for its Cloud Platform: Google has announced the acquisition of Zync Render, a scalable computing service for visual effects, and will integrate it with Google Cloud Platform. Read more here.

7. Snapchat Raising A New Round From KPCB At A $10B Valuation: The rumors are flying around vanishing messaging app Snapchat, both on and off Secret. We too are hearing that Microsoft and Snapchat are in acquisition talks, though we can’t really grok why they would be, other than that the situation would make a great plot point in the inevitable Snapchat movie (“The Sexting Network”?). Facebook Acquires A Sound Studio To Help Power Its App Factory: Facebook has made an interesting acquisition, having picked up WaveGroup Sound, an audio production company headquartered in Burlingame, Calif., that specializes in sound for games, and that produced tracks for the Guitar Hero series, as well as Rock Band and Dance Dance Revolution titles. It also makes sounds for many startups, hardware devices and mobile apps. Read more here.

9. Thiel Fellow Raises $1.5 Million For Social Commerce App Strut: Over the years, a number of startups have tried to redefine the way that users discover and purchase items on their mobile phones. Pretty soon we’ll have another one in Strut, an app that is designed to help users create new outfits that they can buy directly on their phones or share with friends. Read more here.

10. Berlin-Based Social Media Marketing Startup Brandnew Gets $1.9M In Seed Funding: Brandnew, a Berlin-based startup that helps brands create native ad campaigns for Instagram and Pinterest, announced that it has raised a total of $1.9 million in seed funding. Read more here.

11. Tastebuds Acquires Music-Based Dating App Moosify: Tastebuds.fm, the app that matches people based on their musical tastes, has found a match of its own. The London-based startup is acquiring U.S. competitor moosify, a mobile-first “social dating” app that also connects people around music. Terms of the deal remain undisclosed. Read more here.
