How These Indian Brands Made The Most Of Children’s Day 2015

A collection of some cool and interesting Children’s Day initiatives by Indian brands this year

Marketers love kids and with Children’s Day having been celebrated on the weekend gone by, they’ve even appealed to the ‘child’ in us. Saturday, 14th November saw many an Indian brand roll out campaigns and videos making the most of Children’s Day.

Every brand intended to take consumers back to their childhood and remind them of the little things they did as children. Be it Banking & Finance, or FMCG, videos have taken the lead this time of the year too.

Here, we bring you a collection of some cool and interesting Children’s Day initiatives by Indian brands this year.

1. Hero Motocorp ‘Educate to Empower (E2)

Powered by the thought ‘education leads to empowerment’ is E2, a CSR initiative by Hero MotoCorp. The auto major hopes to fight deeper issues within the country’s education system like lower enrolment and attendance in schools, with long-term solutions. E2 works in partnership with several NGOs in the space of child development.

This Children’s Day, the brand urged people to donate their old books to underprivileged kids, as part of E2 initiative.

2. Paper Boat ‘When I Grow Up’

This Children’s Day, Paper Boat urged people to meet an old friend – the child inside them. The traditional Indian drinks brand from Hector Beverages is always taking us back to our childhood days, be it in its ads or other content pieces shared on social media.

In this 2.25 minute film ‘When I Grow Up’, adults are seen doing things they had stopped doing in the process of growing up. An office going guy stops to pull a kite caught in the branches of a tree, while a woman is seen doodling her boss in her notebook in the middle of a meeting room.

3. Axis Bank ‘Like a child’

Axis Bank wanted us to let loose the kid within us this Children’s Day. One of the country’s leading private sector banks, Axis Bank also took us back to childhood through a 2-minute video titled ‘Like a Child’. It featured different people who unleash the playful child inside them. A man caught in a traffic jam happens to look at the miniature racing car lying on his dashboard and begins to pretend play that he’s racing at top speed, even while the woman in the adjacent car watches him in shock.

Another woman is seen commanding an army salute and march past from the security guy at office. A comic book fan is seen wearing a ‘winnie the pooh’ towel around his neck and playing superman. A woman is seen dancing in an empty office.

4. Housing.com ‘#InnocenceInAction’

Real estate portal, Housing.com went to a local school on Children’s Day and spoke to the children about their dream homes. The students were asked to describe their dream homes through pictures that resulted in cool drawings. Children painted tree houses, a house inspired by football and more.

Housing.com has shared these paintings as ‘#InnocenceInAction’, along with a photo contest of the same name on Instagram. People were invited to share pictures of their little ones and tag them with ‘#InnocenceInAction’.

5. HDFC Home Loans #BackToBachpan

HDFC Home Loans, one of India’s leading home finance company launched a social media campaign called ‘#BackToBachpan’, that literally took people back to their childhood. The brand invited people on Facebook and Twitter to share their childhood memories in tweets or photos for a special surprise and a chance to win gift vouchers. Select picture entries were converted into illustrations in real time and sent back to the person who shared it.
