Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the Mecca for Indian management studies has once again proved that they are the early adopters and have created a benchmark for the industry. This time it’s not about breaking the records of salary figures but Indian Institute of Management Calcutta(IIMC) going social savvy. IIMC established in 1961, is celebrating its golden jubilee this year. To mark the jubilee, it has decided to refurbish its traditional portal and make it an engaging one!
We are sure this news has been taken positively by the administration, students and alumni. It’s indeed a breakthrough and in the coming days the portal will be embedded with relevant social networks. It’s just not Facebook or LinkedIn; the management has decided to incorporate discussion forums with a facility of online chat. This integration of archaic group discussions on forums with the latest social networks, has given it a 360 degree social presence.
Other IIM’s may soon follow suit and in a way motivate other educational institutes to embark on this journey. The portal will not only allow the students and administration to engage and have more fun, but alumni can join too. Aspirant students can also get real-time information, follow the institute on LinkedIn to be updated. Real time engagement is the motive of IIMC to go social. Social Media can’t be kept away from our daily life and educational institutes should embrace it rather than be skeptical.
