Social TV is all set to become big in India. With television and social media bridging the gap closer, the possibilities are turning out to be bigger. Seeing this as an opportunity iDubba, an NCR based startup has joined the bandwagon. iDubba, popularly known for its utility app that makes your TV viewing experience more engaging, is all set to launch its new Android app iCouch tonight during the Zee Café’s Grey’s Anatomy season 7 show, which starts at 10 PM.
To start with, iCouch has partnered with the television channel ZEE Cafe. The app that vouches to be the second screen in the Indian market will allow you to chat with other members while the show is on and also allow you to capture favorite scenes. The app that would be functional from 9:30 PM onwards, will also provide some additional features such as accessing exclusive content of the shows, participating in contests related to the shows and also the ability to display the chats live on the TV screen. For today’s show as the startup has partnered with Zee Café, a ticker would run during the show that will showcase all the chats live.
Recently, we saw how Twitter has evolved into the second screen for Indian television viewers, but iDubba jumping into the league and partnering with Zee Café, is a good signal for the startup as well as for the audiences. Even though Twitter has the numbers but it has no control over the conversations and this is one big advantage for Rabi Gupta and his team. A fact that even the television channels have realized, was Rabi’s answer while I was discussing with him about Twitter’s pursual to be the second screen in India.
So, if you would like to catch up with some interesting gossip with like-minded folks during the medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ tonight then grab the iCouch app here.
