This year has been more about videos than about visuals, but that does not mean visuals do not play a role anymore. While brands have mastered the art of visual content marketing, they are now in the phase of video marketing for an enhanced, continuous form of brand storytelling.

The trend that picked up momentum in 2014, is still going strong with most brands coming up with videos on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and now Friendship Day. With Friendship Day round the corner, brands have started rolling out their TVCs and digital films around friendship.

OLX India, one of India’s largest online marketplace for used goods has released a beautiful film on friendship between an army guy and a shopkeeper. The 1.5 minute film is set in the picturesque hills of Kashmir and highlights how a small act of kindness can trigger a lifetime of friendship. Of course, OLX also plays a supporting role in the film.

2. #Fame Comedy ‘Friendship at 13’

The comedy channel is out with a Friendship Day special video dedicated to teenagers. Shot in monologue, Saloni talks all about friendship and what it means, especially for teenagers. From the types of friends we all have to crazy parties with friends, the 3-minute video highlights that friendship is the same, no matter the age. Of course, #Fame pitches in asking the viewer to download its app.

3. Taskbob ‘Let’s Say Thank You’

Taskbob, the company that provides quick solutions to all your household needs is looking to thank all the folks behind their taskforce this Friendship Day. Be it the electrician, the plumber or the AC repair guy, Taskbob has ensured that Friendship day is one special day for them, by making personal visits to their homes and thanking them for their service. Smart initiative by the brand!

4. McDowell’s No. 1 ‘No. 1 Yaari’

The whiskey brand from United Spirits has always delved around friendship in its brand communication. This Friendship Day, the brand wants the best of friendship to bond in real life, and not be lost in the confines of the virtual world. It has launched a contest for friends with prizes including vacations to Goa, Thailand and more. Just upload pictures of your favourite memories with friends and the brand will turn it into a customised video for you and your friends.
