#BigBillionDays Sale Makes Delivery Boys Out Of Flipkart Founders

Flipkart’s 5-day-long mega shopping event 'Big Billion Days (BBD) turns the leaders of the ecommerce company into delivery boys, they want to understand their customer

Flipkart’s ‘Big Billion Days’ is doing many things differently this time. But, the one thing you might not have expected this mega sale week is to see the founders deliver goods themselves astride the company’s bikes and delivery vans. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of the Bansals tweet a selfie with a delighted Flipkart customer.

Flipkart’s 5-day-long mega shopping event that started from October 13 to 17, 2015, is offering theme-based discounts every day of the sale, and was going on as usual on its fourth day today, that the founders decided to take matters in their own hands. The founders have decided to personally deliver goods in Bengaluru in order to gain insights about customer experience by the ecommerce giant.

“We want to learn more about the market, customers and understand what the need is for the future — also to thank them. Over the next 15-20 days, everyone will go out and deliver to customers, starting with some of the leaders,” said Binny Bansal, cofounder of Flipkart to ET.

Leaders who’ve turned into delivery boys are: Mukesh Bansal; Punit Soni, chief product officer; Ankit Nagori, chief business officer, and KV Anand, senior vice president – customer experience.

Sharing their day’s events live on social media is way too cool. This picture of Binny Bansal and Kanakamma will go a long way in framing the 8-year-old ecommerce brand valued at $15billion today, in the list of iconic brands to have changed the face of India.

I wonder what the selection criteria is for a customer’s delivery to be made by the top honchos of the company, they could gain insightful feedback from their most complaining customers. Nevertheless, way to go, Flipkart!
