9 Cool Father’s Day Facebook Campaigns 2013

A collection of Father's Day Facebook campaigns of 2013 that includes fans writing letters, sending wishes or sharing pictures with their dads

With Father’s Day round the corner, many brands have started banking on it since the beginning of this week on social media. Fathers (read ‘Our ATMs’) can be manipulated to buy just about anything for us, and that coupled with the ‘parenthood’ fact, makes the day a favourite for social media marketers.  If the offline world lures you with special offers, daddy’s day out and what not, the virtual world connected through social media enables you to thank your dad in innovative ways.

Here we go with some of the Father’s Day campaigns on Facebook with cool incentives for dads. These are not listed in any ranking order; most of these strike a chord with the fans purely on the basis of their endearing nature.

1. Oreo India ‘Wish for Dad’

Oreo India has opted for a very simple Facebook campaign ‘Wish for Dad’, where you make wishes for your dad and keep your fingers crossed. The world’s favourite cookie that celebrates fatherhood, will pick and choose any five wishes and make it come true. An Oreo cookie in the shape of a moustache adorns a Facebook app, in which you can enter your wishes on the comments below. Fans have been wishing for their dads to have more ‘free’ time, good food, a holiday among other things. It is not mandatory to ‘like’ the app.

2. Aviva India Daddy’s Day Delight

Aviva India, invites dads to upload pictures of them together with their kids and leave a special message on a scrapbook, with an exciting grand prize of playstation, weekly prizes of cinema tickets and daily prizes too. Each scrapbook has a cover page and a last page along with 4 pages where you can upload pictures of you and your child. The app enables access only after you ‘like’ the page.

Bajaj Allianz has chosen to go the CSR way this Father’s Day by bringing in smiles to less privileged children, in association with CRY – Child Rights and You. Raymond, the clothing brand for the complete man, is rewarding fathers who have been good friends.  Fans are being invited to share a time when their dads played the role of a friend rather than a father, where two lucky fans can win a tailor made suit worth Rs. 10000 for their dads. 7. Aircel ‘Dad I’m in an ad’

This is the second season where the telecommunications brand is giving fans a chance to make their dads proud. ‘Dad I’m in an ad’ is giving a chance to star in Aircel’s ad, all you have to do is upload your picture and get 10 likes on it. Experts will choose ten winners through this Facebook app. Although the campaign does not offer tangible incentives or a fun day out for dads, it certainly makes them proud of their child. Quite innovative!

8. Home Shop 18 ‘For Your Smile’

Home Shop 18, the online retail shop has launched a simple Facebook campaign much like the Oreo one, but not with the incentives that Oreo has for dads. A simple Facebook app asks fans to share three things they would do to bring a smile on their father’s face. And Domino’s wants you to ‘like’ their page, if you want a treat with your dad!

These are the campaigns that have created dedicated Facebook apps for Father’s Day with cool incentives for dads. I’m sure you have your favourites as I have mine. While Bajaj has cleverly weaved in CSR, the campaigns that grant wishes for your dad really stand out  - Oreo, Max Life. But, Raymond’s tailor made suit for the best ‘friend’ dad is my personal favourite. Do share your favourites too.
