We know running is a fun way to keep fit while you stay outdoor. But, running is often met with excuses although we know its benefits. It is sometimes rainy or too cold to go out for a run, or simply that you don’t know how to start with it.
FameBox Network, the multi-channel online platform for digital content, has solved this by launching ‘India Running with Milind Soman’ – India’s first digital channel on Running. The YouTube channel will be hosted by the country’s most loved runner and super fit model, Milind Soman. The channel will bring all your running information from coaches, doctors, nutritionists, event organisers and runners from all over India. New videos will be up every Tuesday and Friday. Currently, it has 277 subscribers and 8 videos.
For the channel launch, a video featuring runners with Milind Soman was uploaded on the 4th of August. They are dancing to the soundtrack of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams.
The other videos on the channel are tips on running for beginners, running excuses, a promo with the host and talks with running coaches. Most of the videos have garnered a decent number of views in the last two weeks. On the occasion of Independence day, the channel released a two-part video series with Major D.P.Singh, a war hero who became India’s first Blade Runner. Singh shares his extraordinary story of coming back to life after losing his leg to amputation and the challenges involved in running.
Apart from the YouTube channel, one can also stay updated through a dedicated Facebook page, or by following the Twitter account. In addition, the Famebox Facebook page has also been sharing about the channel.

Encouraging the fitness conscious via digital
The choice of Milind Soman is a perfect fit for a channel on running. ‘India Running With Milind’ adds to the fitness appeal along with the bunch of running experts it has roped in. In the past, Famebox roped in renowned cricket commentator and public speaker, Harsha Bhogle for a video blog series – ‘Out of the Box with Harsha’ that featured interesting insights and in-depth views about cricket by Harsha. Later it had Vir Sanghvi, renowned journalist and talk-show host, to host India’s first web-based talent hunt for amateur chefs – Famebox Webchef. The winner got an opportunity to set-up, manage and monetise their independent YouTube channel.
Very recently, Famebox concluded India’s first fashion web reality show ‘Beauty and the Blogger’ where teams had a blogger and a model each. While the beauty drove up the glamour quotient, the blogger created social media buzz with real-time updates, pictures and behind the scenes videos. The winning team could create an independent channel of their own.
It makes good sense to have dedicated Facebook and Twitter pages for each of the channels. This way the channel can cater to communities with varied interests, be it fitness, fashion or cooking. For ‘India Running With Milind’, the short videos will help drive consumption on mobile phone too. Mobile is the way ahead for digital.
