Facebook culls 17 types of posts that Pages can no longer boost as ads: According to Marketing Land, As of September 15, brands will no longer be able to convert Page posts like profile picture changes and place recommendations into ads. Facebook says: “Advertisers rarely promoted these post types, and when they did, results were not as strong as results with our more popular ad formats.”

2. Facebook adds publishers’ logos to links in search results, trending lists: According to Marketing Land, realizing that people don’t always recognize the publication behind an article they find on Facebook, the social network is rolling out a way for publishers to attach their brand logos to article links appearing in Facebook’s search results and trending news lists, the company announced on Tuesday.

3. Google Issuing Refunds to Advertisers Over Fake Traffic, Plans New Safeguard: According to WSJ, Google is issuing refunds for ads that ran on websites with fake traffic, people familiar with the situation said, as the web giant develops a tool to give marketers more transparency about the ads they buy through its platform.

4. Google announces AMP speed and viewability enhancements for ads: According to Search Engine Land, Google’s AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) group announced enhancements to ads served in AMP. Specifically, the project has entered phase two of its three-phase plan for supporting comprehensive advertising functionality in AMP.
