Facebook has acquired Oculus VR for around $2 billion and during the same time the social networking giant shared some numbers that are worth noting.
Reported by TC, on the acquisition investor conference call CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that, as of last week, Facebook has 1 billion monthly active users on mobile. That’s up from 945 million as of the end of its Q4 2013, when it also earned 53% of ad revenue from mobile, or $1.37 billion of its $2.59 billion revenue. Do note that this 1 billion also includes users who access Facebook through the web, so Facebook’s mobile-only user count could be much lesser. The mobile-only Facebook users had increased significantly from 254 million in Q3 2013 to 296 million in Q4 2013.
Zuckerberg also said that Instagram, which Facebook owns, has reached 200 million monthly actives, up from 150 million last fall. The photo sharing network is witnessing more than 20 billion photos being shared on the mobile first service.
