Durgesh Kaushik, who led Facebook’s small business marketing efforts in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, has decided to leave the company. Reported by AllFacebook, Kaushik who has been primarily working from the Dublin Facebook office, would be heading back to his home country India.
Rumor is that Kaushik who had joined Facebook in February 2012, is set to become the Deputy General Manager for Product Marketing for Reliance Jio Infocomm. The decision of moving ahead from Facebook was also confirmed via his status message –
Goodbye Facebook…don’t stop being awesome! Best company ever!
In his stint of more than a year and half at Facebook, Kaushik has been involved in designing and testing acquisition and customer lifecycle programs in foreign markets. He was also responsible for the email acquisition programs in Europe, the Middle East and Asia for Facebook.
It is believed that his new role at Reliance will focus in bringing more 4G and data services to Indians. In fact the new job expectations have been one of Kaushik’s goal for some time which he has been fulfilling by managing the Facebook community – Connecting the Unconnected.
The Facebook community which was launched early last year, was started for sharing ideas and thoughts on how the gap between the connected world with the unconnected world could be reduced. The community has more than 5K people discussing on how mobile growth is proliferating in the emerging markets.
Prior to joining Facebook, Durgesh has been associated with companies like InfoStretch Corporation and QMetry, both based out in California, US.
