From ‘Finger lickin’ good’ to ‘So Good’, KFC seems to have only raised its bar of quality. It has recently launched its brand new global tagline in India – So Good ((as reported by BestMediaInfo)). Now, when you visit your local KFC, in addition to the finger lickin’ food, you will hear Radio KFC playing around. Radio KFC is a branded channel playing a mix of international music in the store. I would have rather preferred a jukebox pre-filled with popular International tracks, that I could select depending on my mood. And the coins would be available for free with every Zinger!
Anyways, the campaign is being widely promoted through all channels with social media playing a large part. And I found an exciting contest on Facebook called ‘Design your own bucket’. The prizes are also cool – Samsung Galaxy Note, iPod Touch and Sony PSP. Who wouldn’t love to have a KFC bucket designed by them as well as win any of the goodies, so I gave it a shot. The start button opens up an amazing Facebook app in a new window. It does ask for permission to post on my timeline, as per Facebook guidelines.
There is a plain white bucket before you and some tools on the left like brush, eraser, sprayer, etc. You can choose the color from the color picker before you use any tool. You can also modify the size and opacity of the tools. Below the bucket, there are two buttons for putting pictures. The first button is for uploading a picture from your system and the second button provides you with a set of happy-looking pictures. You need to type your special moment in My So Good Moment box before submitting your graffiti art, otherwise it does not let you submit. I loved the app with all its exciting tools and features, but I fail to understand why there is no ‘UNDO’ tool. The ‘CLEAR’ tool clears up everything!
As you can see, I’ve uploaded a happy picture of Prasant while at Matheran. And to my delight, I could submit many times. After you click on submit, you are asked to give your name and email id and also an option whether you want to share it on Facebook. I clicked ‘F Share’ and got a message saying ‘thank you for sharing on Facebook’ and then finally submitted my entry. When I checked Prasant’s timeline, I noticed that it wasn’t being reflected there. This could be because I hadn’t allowed the app to post on my behalf in the permission stage. However, I did the whole exercise again but this time I allowed the app to post on my behalf. My entry showed on the timeline!
Since it is a competition, I was curious to see other submissions. The Wall of Fame button showed me an array of funky designs but I’m not sure why my entry is not showing in the Wall of Fame. Thinking that this might take time to get updated, I played around with the tools in the meanwhile. However, it is still not updated, maybe my entry needs ‘likes’ but I can’t find the Terms & Conditions of the contest nor the last date for submissions.
If KFC India could bring in some clarity, it would be great. Nevertheless, the idea of associating your ‘so good’ moment and having the opportunity to see it on a KFC bucket is cool. Smart move by KFC in bringing out its new tagline ‘So Good’.
