With the Delhi elections closing in, politics is getting dirty. Along with Congress and BJP, social activist Arvind Kejrwal’s year old ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ is also contesting the elections. With support and funds rising from all corners for the young party, eyebrows are being raised for the foreign funds flowing in.
According to Firstpost, the government is already investigating the source of foreign funding to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde stated that, “We have got complaints about foreign funding to AAP and are probing the matter… Investigations take time and we are looking for the source behind the funding.”
The news of government probing the foreign funds issues comes on the heels after Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit yesterday questioned the source of funding of Arvind Kejriwal‘s AAP. According to the CM, AAP has been making baseless allegations against her government and questioned the party’s credibility.
“Where do you (AAP) get all the money from? You can call me a liar or I can call you a thief. But is there any proof to say that I am a liar? But there is proof to say that you are a thief. Just by pointing fingers you cannot make somebody corrupt. Everybody is living in glass houses,” stated the Delhi CM who had served the position for a record four times.
The new set of accusations comes right before the elections are due. However, the allegations have been dismissed by AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Arvind Kejriwal, who has asked that funds of Congress and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) should also be probed.
