Love is in the air every February. Come February and you are bombarded with red hearts and pink balloons just about everywhere you go – from your neighbouring gift shop to the malls in your city, everybody wants you to ‘feel the love’ for Valentine’s Day. The digital space isn’t spared either, gifting brands, chocolate makers, jewellery & watches brands and all brands that can leverage the day to connect with its consumer segment, have been up in arms to woo their online fans.

Adorable visuals, cute graphics and little stories of love have been dominating almost all social media feeds all over the globe. While some brands came up with regular off-the-mill Valentine’s Day visuals with a little brand message strewn over, a few others chose to engage their fans with the help of videos. Video consumption is on the rise in India, thanks to the flexible data plans and a good smartphone on the other hand.

Here are 11 videos where brands have celebrated Valentine’s Day in their own creative ways,  some thoughtful, some thought-provoking, some sweet:

1. MTV India – As raw as it gets

The brand that inspires living a raw and rebellious life, has dished out a very powerful Valentine’s Day video. A tight slap on the faces of the many communities against the culture of love beyond caste, this MTV Valentine’s Day video tops our list of favourites. The use of regional language is another feather in its cap, or must we say another like on the video!

2. It’s MTV India again!

The youth entertainment brand came up with another video, and this time it has taken on the irrational marriage threats announced by right wing activists, whereby any couple seen together on Valentine’s Day would be forcefully married at once. Rendered as a poem, this video too has made clever use of regional language and a timely topic.

3. &Pictures’ love in a lunchbox

India’s 1st Interactive movie channel &Pictures created this sweet video capturing the smart campaign promotion of its Valentine Day premiere ‘The Lunchbox’. The channel teamed up with the famed Dabbawallas of Mumbai and  played cupid for over 50,000 couples in the city. Little messages of love were conveyed by the men to the women who cooked for them everyday, without ever expecting anything in return, least of all a love note!

4. Woo app asks  What #LoveActuallyIs

Indian dating app Woo walked around the streets of Delhi and asked people what they think #LoveActuallyIs. The idea was to showcase different perspectives on love from friends, family and colleagues. Part of a social campaign by Woo especially relevant around Valentine’s Day that talked to real couples and discovered their special moments.

5. Hike’s Love is never strange

Love is blind. Love is stupid. Love is confusing. Love is irrational. But love is never strange. India’s only homegrown messaging app Hike asked viewers to share their seemingly strange tweet sized love story on Twitter using #HikeForLove with this video. The social flavour of the campaign seeks to depict the challenges being faced by today’s youth, amidst the conservative thought process that dominates our society.

6. Samsung Mobile’s love notes

Samsung Mobile India recycled its old promotional ad film launched for the Samsung Note 4 in September 2014 wherein it asked viewers ‘Do You Note? Nevertheless, the Valentine’s Day video by Samsung is as adorable and old fashioned as Valentine’s Day can get. The sweet story revolves around a boy making creative use of the Note 4 to propose to a girl, he otherwise would not know how to approach.

7. Big Bazaar’s #TheBigVDay

The biggest hypermarket chain in India to take Indian consumer shopping to the next level has blended Valentine’s Day with promotions for its Big Bazaar Profit Club (BBPC) card. Big Bazaar’s Dubey Saab is seen making smart use of his BBPC card to woo his wife on Valentine’s Day while the viewer is taken through the sweet love celebration of this not-so-young couple through this 2.46 minute video.

8. Hero Pleasure #BeFree

A little tough to get at first watch, this Valentine’s day video by Hero Pleasure will slowly sink in and get to you. The scooter for girls by one of India’s biggest bike manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp  is urging viewers to not give in to peer pressure and #BeFree. At 3.5 minutes, the storytelling takes full liberty to take you through a complete work day in the life of the protagonist, while delivering the brand message in style.

9. Micromax’s animated selfie love

India’s very own smartphone maker, Micromax Mobile came up with this animated short video on Valentine’s Day where the brand has focused on the traditional Valentine’s Day date not being complete without the hundred random couple selfies to mark the special day!

10. Cadbury Dairy Milk #FreeTheJoy

The chocolate brand wished fans with this cute animated video where little animated cubes of Cadbury Dairy Milk take the viewer through a sweet story of wooing the girl in a variety of ways till she accepts.

11. Cadbury Valentine’s day Silk stories

The premium chocolate brand has been running a #SayitWithSilk campaign for the limited edition of its Valentine Day chocolate pack. Silk shared this simple yet sweet video highlighting how the limited edition chocolate  can turn your everyday stories into Valentine’s Day Silk stories.
