This Monday, the 15th of August 2016, India woke up to celebrate its 70th Independence Day. Having enjoyed over 69 years of freedom from the British Empire is no mean feat with the nation making quick strides in areas of agriculture, education, environment and technology. While the reigning Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tricolour at Red Fort along with the speech on Freedom and what it means to the nation, life was usual for most of us Indians who were born in free India. Schools celebrated with the mandatory flag-hoisting ceremony while office goers celebrated with a long weekend vacation.
Freedom means many things to many people, and it was left to businesses operating in free India to carry forward the story of Indian Independence, without which they wouldn’t be in existence. This year, several Indian brands invested in visual storytelling dedicating the day to the heroes who fought for an Independent India. The quirky brands, however, gave independence an altogether new meaning, while others weaved in a brand connect.
We bring you, here, a compilation of the most creative visuals and gifs by Indian brands celebrating our 70th Independence Day.
