Dads might be our walking ATMs but they are also the first men in our lives we fall in love with. Dads help shape the person we become and every so often it happens that we step into the shoes of our dad. On the occasion of Father’s Day, an annual celebration of fatherhood and the influence of fathers in society, on June 21, Indian brands have rolled out their video tributes to dads from all over the world.
Here, we bring you a list of the nine most adorable Father’s Day videos of 2015:
1. SBI Life Insurance #PapaHainNa
The life insurance brand has chosen music as a tribute to fatherhood. SBI Life has rolled out ‘Papa Hain Na’ – a heartfelt song by a daughter to her father, sung by Neeti Mohan, with lyrics by Sameer Anjaan and music produced and composed by Shamir Tandon.
SBI Life is inviting people to participate in the #PapaHainNa contest where one has to send pictures with their dad. The best ones will be featured in a special video.
2. Godrej Expert #MyFirstHero
The hair dye brand is asking people to thank their first hero, their dad this Father’s Day. Godrej Expert is also running a Twitter contest hashtagged #MyFirstHero with the help of Twitter influencers. The questions are related to dads and special moments with them.
The two-and-a-half minute film is a tribute to our dads, our first heroes. It takes the viewer through a range of things only dads can do. The text blurb at the end says, ‘Godrej Expert Hair Colors – Keeping your first hero young.’
3. Vicks Vaporub #HugYourDad
The cold ointment most of us have grown up with is simply asking people to hug their dad. The one-and-half-minute video pieces together a series of special moments shared by dads and their kids. It travels further to how the hugging and the closeness vanishes as kids grow up, and all that remains is a handshake.
The film tells men to hug their dads, the man who made them a man, with the hashtag #HugYourDad. The brand is running a blogging contest where bloggers have been invited to share why a hug is the best gift they can give to their dad, this Father’s Day.
4. OYO Rooms #SayItWithOYO
Branded budget hotels network, Oyo Rooms focused on the special bond shared by dads and sons – one where both shy away from verbally sharing their love. The three-minute video starring actors Piyush Mishra and Zeeshan Ayyub tells you to express your love and value the relationship while it is still present, by weaving a mischievous yet adorable story. The text blurb at the end goes, “For the man who took your dreams to places. Now it’s your turn.”
It also ran a #Dadsmash Dubsmash contest where one to create dubsmash videos dedicated to their fathers.
5. Motorola India #MotoDadTunes
This 21st June, Father’s Day also coincided with World Music Day. So Motorola India felt the coincidence could be leveraged to create India’s first crowdsourced Father’s Day song. Motorola invited fans to dedicate a line to their dad on Twitter or Facebook, using the hashtag #MotoDadTunes, and promised to have them made into a song by ‘Man. Goes Human’.
The event was live streamed on the 21st of June and included prizes for participants.
6. Lakme School Of Style #Kanyadaan
Lakme School Of Style, India’s first fashion video magazine launched by #fame took up the cause of domestic abuse for its Father’s Day video titled #Kanyadaan. It says that the best gift a girl could ever receive is the assurance that her father is always going to be there for her.
In this nearly three-minute film, actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Dalip Tahil portray a father’s love for his daughter, especially at the time of kanyadaan. When she is alarmed at the news of rising domestic abuse cases in the newspaper, he makes a promise to be there for her always.
7. Amazon India #MakeDadSmile
The ecommerce giant decided to make dads smile this Father’s Day. It invited fans to recreate their dad’s happiest memories by sending pictures with their dads. All the pictures were compiled into this a-minute-and-a-half long video titled #MakeDadSmile.
Participation was incentivized with the promise of OnePlus One smartphones.
8. Johnnie Walker India #DateWithDad
“Life doesn’t come with a handbook. That’s what dads are for”. Johnnie Walker India roped in actor John Abraham for it’s tribute film for dads. In the half-minute video, John shares how his dad stood by him when he decided to switch careers to modelling, when everybody else said he shouldn’t.
9. ICICI Bank #MyDadMyWorld
ICICI Bank, second largest bank in India in terms of assets and market capitalization, asked people which superhero reminded them of their dads or three words to describe their dads, and compiled the responses in a video. It urged fans to express their love for their dads on Father’s Day, taking inspiration from the video.
The hashtag #MyDadMyWorld served to keep a track of its conversations on social media.
