12 Best Diwali Videos Of 2015 From Indian Brands

A compilation of the most interesting Diwali videos rolled out by Indian brands this year


The air’s cooler around us and there’s a certain joy in it. This year November has brought to us the country’s most joyous festival of Diwali and a time when many Indian brands also join in the festive fervour. Brands in the business of gifting top the list, followed by brands in varied industries that could do with a positive brand recall, when consumers go Diwali shopping.

Celebrations usually begin a month prior to the festival but a few enthusiastic brands started a couple of months ago. This year is also the year of short videos for the digital age.

And the combination of the two has made for some cool Diwali videos, and we’ve listed them down here:

1. Urban Ladder “The Homecoming”

Online furniture store, Urban Ladder has rolled out a 7.16 minute long film called ‘The Homecoming’ in which the furniture brand plays a key role in bringing two generations of a family to stay together. Starring Piyush Mishra as the father and Tapsee Pannu as the daughter-in-law, the film takes one through a typical family story where the older generation is reluctant to move in with their children, as they are so used to the furniture back home.

2. Microsoft India #DiwaliUpgrade

Microsoft India wants users to open ‘Khushi Ki Khidkiyaan’ (Windows of Happiness) this Diwali. The tech giant is calling it a #DiwaliUpgrade through which it hopes its Windows 7 and Windows 8 users upgrade to Windows 10. A 3.36 minute digital film has been launched to demonstrate how a simple upgrade in your own life has the power to touch others’ lives. In the video, people are seen upgrading their devices, while triggering a chain reaction of happiness in other peoples’ lives.

3. Asus India “Har pal Happiness”

This Diwali, Asus India rolled out the ‘Har pal Happiness’ Diwali video as part of its campaign of the same name. Capturing a snippet from the life of one father and son, the 3-minute film takes us through their unexpressed emotions of love and understanding through the festival of Diwali. While the son makes use of the remuneration from his tuition classes to buy his dad a much needed spectacle, the dad buys him a brand new laptop from his savings and Diwali bonus.

4. UC Browser “HarGhar UC Diwali”

This Diwali UC Browser, the flagship mobile operating system from UC Web chose to reveal the real story of Ramayan. The hilarious 4.40 minute video shows Ravan killing himself at the end so that Ram can go home. Diwali happens and the world can enjoy the amazing offers powered by UC Browser. 5. Sony LIV “Choti Khushi” #LivThisDiwali

“Chhoti Khushi” by Sony LIV tells the story of two brothers who love each other but have been living apart after some small fights. Their complex relationship is explored in the backdrop of Diwali and how the festival becomes a catalyst in bringing the two together. Titled “Choti Khushi”, the 6.35 minute film is being called as a ‘story of togetherness, erasing judgments, and staying in the moment; it’s a story about two brothers shredding their egos on a special day’.

6. Titan #GiftOfTime

Watchmakers from the most trusted brand, Titan Watches has explored the importance of time spent with people who matter to us, in its Diwali video. This Diwali the brand wants us to spend the #GiftOfTime with those who matter, choose to spend time making memories that last forever. The 1.39 minute film shows a group of friends taking a break from their work, to be with each other during the festival and create lasting memories.

7. Eicher #YaaronKiDiwali

Eicher Trucks & Buses has an important message weaved into its Diwali film - this Diwali, the motor brand hopes to discourage drunk driving through its video campaign “#YaaronKiDiwali”. Themed around ‘Roke Wahi, Jo Yaar Ho Sahi’, the 5.12 minute film is a beautiful tale of friendship among truck owners who take care of each other, and not let any one of them drive drunk on the highway.

8. Reliance Fresh #DildaarDiwali

Diwali may be the festival of lights but unfortunately, it has also become a festival of crackers. Very few of us realize it but all the noise pollution created by our Diwali celebrations is very harmful to animals, especially dogs. This minute-long video by Reliance Fresh is a thought-provoking video that shows us the true meaning of #‎DildaarDiwali. Told through little Tara and her friends, the convenience store from Reliance gets you to think whether crackers are really needed to mark a celebration.

9. Lufthansa India “Diwali Surprise”

Lufthansa India has been spreading Diwali cheer this festive season. The German carrier has offered to fly you to the one you love, through its Lufthansa Diwali Surprise. All one needs to do is send a Diwali wish at the microsite, and keep their fingers crossed. A 3-minute film has been launched as part of the campaign, featuring an adorable grandpa missing his granddaughter who’s in Canada.

10. Air Vistara #HamariPehliDiwali

Air Vistara, the Indian airline that started operations with a big bang this year, has planned on making this Diwali a special one for special couples. The airline is giving away five complimentary couple return flight tickets for those who deserve it. The contest is inviting couples to share their Pehli Diwali story using #HamariPehliDiwali. Interestingly, these couples could be just about anybody, not just the newly married ones. The three ad films rolled out for the campaign feature a newly married couple, two entrepreneurs, and a grandmother wanting to see her newborn grandson.

11. Pepperfry “Iss Diwali, kuch badal ke dekhiye”

Pepperfry, one of India’s early furniture etailer is offering up to 51% discount in its Mega Diwali Sale and its urging Indians to change for the better this Diwali. The two TVCs rolled out last month as part of its Iss Diwali, kuch badal ke dekhiye” campaign show us two separate instances in which cold people undergo a change of heart and buy gifts of furniture. A young woman gifts a chair to her old neighbour without one and a landlord gifts a study table set to his young tenant.

12. Fabfurnish “Mrs. India ka Ghar”

Home furnishing ecommerce firm Fab Furnish wants to be your homemaker and what good time than Diwali to say so. Fab Furnish rolled out an ad film taking viewers around the beautiful home created by Mrs India. Mrs. India symbolizes that modern Indian woman who wants the best for her family and friends. The “Mrs. India ka Ghar” video smartly showcases the product range from Fab Furnish.
