According to a latest blog post from Twitter India, the recent partnership between The Board of Control for Cricket India, Twitter India and Digigraph witnessed a massive response not only from Indians but also from the global community.

To strengthen the bond between fans and Sachin, BCCI, during the recently concluded test matches had asked Sachin’s fans to tweet a message for the legend along with #ThankYouSachin and BCCI promised to gratify the fan with a personalized picture of Sachin.

The simple but catchy initiative appealed to true Sachin fans and celebrities round the globe. The hashtag witnessed more than 3M tweets. #ThankYouSachin BCCI

The initiative has been a success not only with fan power but the smart integration of the app that allowed fans to tweet directly from some of India’s top sports and news websites, with a widget built specifically for this moment. ESPNCricinfo, Yahoo Cricket, Cricbuzz, Sportskeeda, Wisden India, Hindustan Times and DNA all took part in this historic campaign.

Besides this, the campaign was also promoted on television by Star Sports India to gain more eyeballs. While the initiative was promoted during the live test matches on TV, it displayed the hashtag along with the growing number of tweets.

At the same time, the Mumbai IPL team came up with another social and digital campaign to support #ThankYouSachin. A microsite had been created with the name – #ThankYouSachin and fans were requested to share messages while tagging #ThankYouSachin in their messages and pictures, to be featured on the website.

Sachin’s retirement has been epic and it will take some time to get over it. In fact the little master even took to Twitter to thank his fans which is now the most retweeted tweet of all time in India.
