With this alliance, Aircel is about to launch ‘Aircel Joys’ that claims to offer up to 90% discount on various products exclusive to Aircel customers. These deals would be shipped by MyDala that claims to have 100,000 deals spanning 152 cities as of now in categories such as entertainment, lifestyle, shopping, hospitality and personal care among others.
To access the service, Aircel subscribers will need to dial *121*787# and then browse through the menu to select the deals. However, subscribers will need to buy coupons to purchase these deals: the pay per coupon option would range from Re. 1 to Rs. 49; you can pay for two deals by buying the Rs. 5 coupon and you get unlimited deals pack for Rs. 30/month.
Telco partnership has been on MyDala’s radar for quite some time and it has gone on records to state that such alliances are turning fruitful for the company. In the recent past, MyDala had similar tie-ups with telcos like Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Tata Docomo.
Founded in November 2009, MyDala is more of a market place offering coupons across various categories like restaurants, health & beauty and travel. Subsequently it has a product section through which it offers product deals across various categories like electronics, books, mobile phones, etc. Going further, the firm that has raised around Rs. 28 crore investments from Info Edge and angel investors like Ajay Relan and Jayanta Basu of CX Partners until now, wishes to expand to 250 cities. Right now it is available only in 152 cities.
Recently Groupon India, one of the competitors of MyDala partnered with messaging app Line to provide daily deals through an official account ‘Groupon Freebies’ on LINE.
It would be interesting to find out how fruitful the Aircel Joys will be for the subscribers and for MyDala’s business.
