AIB, one of India’s premiere comedy collectives has created a storm on social media with their latest offering #AIBKnockout. The three part video series uploaded yesterday on YouTube is the roast of Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor with Karan Johar being the roast master. The rude, offensive, filthy but entertaining show happened in December when both the stars along with other guests in the panel took on all kinds of filthy and outrageous insults to entertain a live audience.
Inspired by Comedy Central’s roasts of Hugh Hefner, Pamela Anderson, Charlie Sheen, among others, AIB presented the Indian version and it was brutally funny. If you haven’t seen the videos then you seriously are missing something on the Internet but let us warn you in Karan’s words, “Let the filth begin.”

The roast was based on the concept that everyone had to insult each other in the most bizarre way they could think of. In doing so the comedians left the audience in splits even if it wasn’t soothing to our society and culture.

Everyone in the panel - AIB stars, film critic Rajeev Masand, Raghu Ram of MTV Roadies fame, Aditi Mittal and of course Karan, Ranveer, Arjun all had to face the brutal insults. Even the front row celebrity audience wasn’t left out which included the likes of Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, and others. For her association to internet jokes, Alia had to face the most heat even if she wasn’t in the panel.

Call me old school and antiquated, but I’d take classy, subtle British humor any day over crass, vulgar #AIBKnockout / Russell Peters anyday — Utsav Mitra (@UtsavMitra) January 29, 2022

I’ll be the dissenting voice that thinks the #AIBKnockout repeated the same 5 jokes. Can do better than “he’s so black/fat”. But good start. — Madhu Menon (@madmanweb) January 29, 2022
