Looks like the Indian politicians are now becoming mobile savvy too after making a presence on social media. In a recent development, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi recently launched a new mobile app on iOS, Android and Windows platforms.
The app developed by Syed Abdahu Quadri, a B.Tech student places the Majlis leader as the third Indian politician to have a separate app apart from the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
I haven’t had a chance to use the app of Modi or Rahul but did try out this one. The Android app is a one stop destination for all the details on the Majlis leader who had formed the party 56 days ago. Along with the biography, the app has a collection of speeches which basically leads to Owaisi’s YouTube page, latest news about the leader, getting involved, events, media details, etc. In other words the app curates information from all sources and serves on mobile. Nevertheless, the app is simple and does its job.
While Owaisi has a strong presence on social media, this mobile app will enable followers to access everything at their finger tips.
Talking on the development, Owaisi added that, “No political party can ignore the reach of social media especially in urban areas. One can do so at one’s own peril.”
The party has gone techno-savvy with an eye on the 2019 elections. Going forward the party wants to reach out to the technocrat voters, particularly the youth.
Hyderabad parliamentary constituency has more than four lakh Facebook users; if numbers are to believed then Owaisi and his party are heading in the right direction for now in reaching out to the youth.
