Life is going to come to a full circle for Arvind Kejriwal, founder of AAP who would be taking oath as chief minister at the Ramlila grounds on Saturday, February 14. It was this day last year that he had resigned for not having adequate numbers in the assembly to push an anti-corruption bill.

Like the last year’s general elections in the country which brought back BJP into power, Delhi’s election was also driven by social media and Twitter trends. Both Facebook and Twitter went crazy after AAP made a clean sweep; Delhi Legislative Assembly trended on Facebook and hashtags like #AAPSweep, #AAPKiDilli and #KisKiDilli dominated Twitter trends. In fact #AAPSweep is still dominating the India Twitter trends.

AAP created a tsunami on social media after its victory. We also witnessed the would be Delhi CM sharing his joy with his wife Sunita which has now gone viral.

In just one day Twitter data informs that the platform witnessed 101 tweets per minute, making it a total of more than 347K tweets yesterday.

The victory also gave enough reasons for the AAP volunteers to cheer and flash big smiles. To do things a bit different AAP shared exclusive, behind the scenes pictures from the AAP HQ using Twitter Mirror – the mirror allows celebrities to take “selfies” of themselves simply by tapping the screen. The photo is then sent out to the event’s Twitter feed to draw more responses.

While Twitter smartly integrates its features with the AAP celebrations, the party volunteers get the opportunity to share their joy with the world. They deserve it; together with Arvind they brought back the party, which was advised by many to dissolve after its disappointing loss at the general elections 2014.
