9XM’s New Social Media Engagement

9XM Engages Fans by Social Media

Bade and Chote

We are sure that if you are a fan of Bollywood music and adore the idiot box then the characters ‘Bade’ and ‘Chotte’ don’t need an introduction. The amazing jodi have given captivating viewership to India’s no.1 Hindi Music Channel, 9XM. It’s not just these two characters but other characters such as the ‘Bettle Nuts’, ‘Bheegi Bili’, etc. that have given popularity on television and on the social space too. With more than 2 lakh fans on Facebook and presence on Twitter, YouTube, etc., 9XM now plans for engagement.

They have come up with three cool initiatives- ‘Do Deewane Shehar Mein’, ‘Bakwaas Kar Contest’ and ‘9XLNews’ that will definitely create excitement in its 4 lakh strong community. Ms Vibha Gosher, VP-Digital,9X Media Pvt.Ltd, has this to say:

“Besides the substantial number of on-air viewers, 9XM also enjoys a large fan following on the internet. We are pleased to offer a series of entertainment options to 9XM’s online community. With Do Deewane Shehar Mein, Bakwaas Kar Contest and 9XL News, we plan to further strengthen our bond with the digital generation.”

‘Do Deewane Shehar Mein’ is a Facebook powered initiative wherein we will find the really adorable characters ‘Bade’ and Chote travelling across India. The idea is to involve the fans to help Bade and Chote who would encounter demanding situations as they travel. So if you are in Mumbai and wish to help them, do check out their Facebook fan page

The second initiative is an interesting one as the contest is synonymous with the poor jokes of ‘Bade’ and ‘Chote’ which are labeled as ‘Bakwas Bandh Kar’. So you need to upload your bakwas joke keeping in mind the characters on the website. Your joke is then up for voting where fans will vote and if your joke is really bakwas then it will be on air with due credits. So what are you waiting for, hurry up as the contest ends by 15th July 2011.

The third initiative involves making the 9XL Bollywood gossip show spicier. Fans are asked to create a new character-‘The Undercover Agent’ who will join the existing ‘Gang of’ Khus’. So if you are a sucker of Bollywood gossip, then here is your golden chance.

Brands are now evolving from the phase of building social presence to engaging the community vigorously. This is a good sign for social media in India. The fantastic response by the fans can be assessed by the amount of content uploaded by them after these new initiatives by 9XM.
