What a week it has been - Facebook acquiring Instagram for $1 Billion, LinkedIn introducing it’s most exciting feature of generating targeted content, Google Plus revamping it’s look! Back home in India, articles have been pouring in from the India Social Summit 2012 and reviewing the Society Tea and Canon India campaigns, gave us an awesome feeling. Here is a collection of 7 social media articles that we think make up for an enlightening weekend read:

1. Measurement Beyond Likes, Fans and Comments: is a post that narrates the detailed coverage by Deepika Bhardwaj at Exchange4Media.com. The article talks about what the various speakers think on how social media monitoring is evolving and how should we look beyond the number of ‘Likes’.  Good one to read if you have missed the discussion at IndiaSocial Summit, 2012. You can also find the presentation of Manu Prasad here, who was also one of the speakers on this topic.

2. A print journo @ India Social: is another blog post shared by Shruti Chakraborty, which is a snapshot of the entire event at IndiaSocial Summit 2012.  A great literary delight from a journalist about the event, posted in LiveMint.com and is a good read if you really want to know how IndiaSocial was.

3. Social Media Marketing Needs Fixing: A guest post by Asfaq and a delight to read! I thought finally someone worthy spoke about this. I actually like the point where Asfaq shares his thoughts on how today “Everyone is a Social Media Marketing Expert”. You should check out this post if you really want to know the pitfalls of this medium too.

4. Is Social Media making Nations Sates irrelevant? The rise of Blogistan: How many Bollywood celebrities do take out time and blog? Well this was one of the first reasons why I checked out this blog post from the famous director, Shekhar Kapur. We do know what an amazing storyteller he is and in this post he shares his thoughts on the revolution called Social Media and supports it with  some great examples. He ends his post with a great thought – The world is no longer flat or vertical. It is no longer top down. Social Media is making it round.

5. Youth Activism: The Way Forward Social Change? A wonderful blog post that talks about youth and its interest in bringing about changes in the society. The article shares thoughts from the youth on how social media networking sites are facilitating movements with social causes. A must read if you are interested to know what the youth of today, thinks about this whole revolution being created.

6.  B2B marketers should exploit online opportunity:  A sector that has not shown much interest in social media but having said that, one can do lot in B2B. Dhiman Mukherji stresses the fact in his guest blog post at Exchange4media.com that why it is important and addresses the often-asked question - what is the quality of leads that B2B social media generate? A must read for those brands who are still skeptic about B2B social media.

7. The Social Network – Privacy in public: A blog post by Sanjay Pinto at The Hindu, touches upon the fact that nothing is private on social media but transparency can actually result in privacy. The article shares the example of Yuvraj who was updating his fans via Twitter while he was fighting against cancer. This at least kept the stupid reporter questions that we witness every day in the idiot box. A lovely post to read and love the idea of a “Thank You All” button right next to the Like button. Hope Mr. Zuckerberg is listening!

Hope you have fun reading these and if you would like to add some more, do let us know in the comments or tweet us at @lhinsights.

Happy Reading!
