Move2Picasa-Import Facebook Pictures To Google Plus
|July 13, 2022||Posted by Prasant under GooglePlus|
The first thing that makes a profile page appealing is the pictures. Before Google Plus everyone had their social castle built on Facebook but now with this whole new entry in the social space, users wanted to import their pictures from Facebook to Google Plus. Both the giants didn’t have an answer but Pune based web developer Aman Kumar Jain had. Seeing the early demand, Aman built an app - ‘Move2Picasa’ that was capable enough to solve user problems. Within days the app went viral and today have more than fifteen thousand active users. The app is now part of the Chrome Web store and since everyone is jumping to Google Plus, we thought of doing a review.
How does the app work?
You need to go to the Chrome Web Store to download it and if you are still using internet explorer or any other browser then you need to download Google Chrome. Once the extension is downloaded, you can find a small icon created on the right hand side of your web browser.
If you are using it for the first time then you are asked to log on to Facebook. The app takes a while depending on the quantity of snaps you have uploaded on Facebook over the years. Once it uploads all the pictures, the app would look like this:
Box 1: Once you select an album for upload and click on the upload button located right at the bottom of the page, the status of the image changes. If the picture has a green color border then it has successfully uploaded, yellow denotes how many are still in the queue, white borders are those which have not been selected for upload and red border denotes that the image was not found.
TIP: This feature helps you to keep a track of the images that are being uploaded. Ideally if you have too many pictures then uploading in small chunks would be advisable. We tested with around 50 snaps at a time and the app uploaded in no time.
Box 2: This section has options like the ‘Uncheck All’ option which gives the user the flexibility of uploading. By default, all the snaps are checked for upload but you can make your own choice. ‘Pause and Close’ closes the application and Logout stops the application from accessing your Facebook account.
Box 3: Allows you to play with a particular album. For example, we tested for just one album. ‘Upload All’ will allow all the pictures to be uploaded and ‘Upload None’ is the opposite.
Once you are done with your choices, you hit the ‘Upload’ button right at the bottom and the process will start as shown in the below picture and you can check the picture borders to know the state of upload.
When your upload is over, you get a popup box with success message. Go to your Picasa account to check your pictures. Once that’s done, check your Google Plus account and the uploaded images would be in Photos->Albums. While you share your pictures, make sure that you check the Sharing settings so that you share them with whom you want to, as shown in the below picture:
As the app is fairly new, there may be some glitches, just refresh it and it will be fine. The apps simplicity and ease of use has made it popular. If you face any app related queries, you can check the app’s Facebook Fan page or just ask us.
