Why do I need to use Social Media? Do you really need to jump in social media and if yes then what is your objective. Is it brand awareness or reaching to consumers? Whatever be your objective don’t jump to follow the bandwagon and don’t jump with an objective to create sales initially otherwise you won’t survive for long in the social space.
Where are my consumers and What are they talking about? You need to find your consumers and what are they talking about. Don’t close your eyes if they are talking negative about you. It has to happen as they have suffered for long. Take the beating and think how you can address it. It’s the biggest challenge for businesses in social media but there are live examples how business have tackled it.
How can I reach my consumers or my community? Now you can look for Social Media tools/networks that would be required for connecting and listening. Every tool has its own reach, so grab those that fulfill your needs. Initially it would be a mere experimentation as some may work and some won’t. Don’t be afraid in experimenting as social media has one golden rule of ‘Experimentation’ but don’t also be in a hurry of using all social media tools present under the roof. You will be lost.
Plan how you would engage and give a reason to your consumers to open up. Connecting and Listening is required but you need to engage too. Social Media is a two way dialogue process that can be built after one tries out different ways of engaging. Engagement though sounds easy is quite a challenge as humans are unpredictable. Experimentation is the key.
Quick, Responsive and Constant engagement will lead to achieve your objectives of Social Media. Social media is 24*7 and one can’t afford to be lazy. Plan out how you are going to maintain a constant and responsive engagement to nurture a long time relationship with your consumers
