The latest controversy in the political circle involves the Congress party. According to NDTV, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde earned a new confrontation with the Aam Aadmi Party today by declaring its leader Arvind Kejriwal as “eccentric.” He further referred to the AAP supremo and Delhi CM as “veda” – a Marathi term for ‘mad’.
For the last two days the Union Minister and the Delhi CM were at loggerheads over the suspension of five police officers for alleged dereliction of duty. AAP party had also demanded that the Delhi Police must be made to report to the state government and not the union Home Ministry, as it does currently.
The demands were refused by the Union Minister and the capital witnessed the CM and his party workers starting a protest at the Rail Bhavan. The entire controversy drew a sharp response from the media and opposition but AAP justified the protest.
Finally last evening, the chief minister called off his demonstration, claiming that “the victory was Delhi’s” because two of the policemen he had targeted had been asked to proceed on paid leave.
This episode has left a bad taste in the mouth of Congress which is also AAP ‘s political support in the state.
Understandably, the comment made by the Union Minister has triggered comments/conversations on Twitter. “YEDA” which also means ‘mad’ has started trending, and as I write the keyword is trending at the top of Twitter India Trends.
Listed below are 19 ‘Yeda’ tweets that are sure to tickle your funny bone and give a thought to our political class.
